Description

Head of Commercial (Civil Engineering/Utilities)
Glasgow or Edinburgh
£100,000 + Senior Package

I have been asked to support finding a Head of Commercial who will provide expert commercial advice and Joint Venture commercial team leadership for a tier 1 civil engineering organisation. The role can be based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, to suit the successful individual.

You will report to the board with your own commercial team of 10+ and you will be commercially responsible for a recently renewed utilities infrastructure framework agreement which values currently at £100m per annum, increasing to £170m in coming years.

My client has a strong and well-established relationship with their end user, one that has been built on trust and delivery during its previous framework period. It is a relationship that requires protection and subtle cultivation, so, although you will be highly motivated and goal orientated, you will be decidedly diplomatic and practiced at gaining win/win business result outcomes.

You will manage the performance and development of your wider senior commercial team through coaching, mentoring and building required skill sets to ensure that senior staff are adequately equipped to perform.

You will be a subject matter expert in all things commercial, with a particular emphasis on NEC and ICE forms and you will be well versed in Joint Venture commercial management and client alliance working.

To be considered, you will:

·be a senior commercial individual within a tier 1 contracting environment

·have vast experience within civil engineering, preferably within the utility sectors

·have commercial acumen and analytical skills for managing inputs and outputs of a commercial assignment of £100m+

·be able to foster great client relationships

·be a true leader, able to develop and obtain the finest results from your senior and wider team

·have gained relevant tertiary commercial qualifications or a related construction technical discipline

·Have advanced subject matter knowledge across multiple commercial functions and expert people management skills

If the brief reads like you and you are confident of exceeding this tier 1 contractor’s expectations and demands then I would be delighted to hear from with a view to arranging an initial conversation in confidence.
