We have been appointed to source an Assistant QS for our client who is a well-known leading telecoms organisation. This engaging role will be based in their Milton Keynes office and will support the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of telecom utility projects within the area which include new builds, enhancement projects and framework schemes.
The role is best suited to someone who has worked as a Quantity Surveyor within a general civil engineering environment or within multi-utilities, either contractor or client side. You will be qualified to a minimum of HNC/D, ideally degree and be able to demonstrate the drive and determination to succeed in what is a forward thinking face paced organisation. The Assistant QS Role:
- Provide support managing the commercial resources of the assigned project to manage planned expenditure through the placement and control of contracts
- Valuing work executed by contractors and certifying interim and final payments
- Support the authorisation and submission of project variations
- Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks and implementing the companies' policies for risk management
- Assisting in the production and submission of valuation certification, budget monitoring and producing contract/workstream performance data
- Assisting in the monthly measurement of supplier KPI’s and reporting
- Providing robust, timely and accurate cost and value data and their progress in relation to the programme schedule
- At least 2 years previous experience within Quantity Surveying
- Qualified to a minimum HNC/D in Quantity Surveying
- Experience within civil engineering or multi-utilities, either contractor or client side, although consideration will be given to those with relevant QS experience in building
- Ability to use spreadsheets to interpret and collate financial data
- Experience of NEC3 ECC forms of Contract
- Excellent negotiation skills (with suppliers and partners)
- Excellent communication, numerical and computer literacy skills
