Description

Working as a Quantity Surveyor for our client you will support the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of telecoms projects which will include new build and service frameworks. You’ll be ensuring that our clients operations and service delivery are fully protected under the contract terms and comply with the relevant statutory requirements.

Our client is in fact the UK’s leading alternative provider of wholesale fibre infrastructure. They are responsible for providing next generation digital infrastructure to over 8 million premises, which include the public sector, business communities, mobile operators and homes. Never before has high speed, stable fibre infrastructure been so important, so much so, it’s now widely known as the 4th utility, next to water, gas and electricity.

The Role:

  • Managing the commercial resources of the assigned project (or region/workstream) to manage planned expenditure through the placement and control of contracts
  • Valuing work executed by contractors and certifying interim and final payments
  • Supporting the authorisation and submission of project variations
  • Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks and implementing the companies' policies for risk management
  • Providing commercial and contractual expertise to contracts which includes the production and submission of valuation certification, drafting and issuing correspondence, claims, budget monitoring and producing contract/workstream performance data
  • Compiling the monthly measurement of supplier KPI’s and reporting
  • Providing robust, timely and accurate cost and value data at both project and regional levels and their progress in relation to the programme schedule
  • Advising internal stakeholders on budgets and controlling cost savings and expenditure
The Requirements:

  • 4 years+ Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within a Civil Engineering environment
  • Previous experience of large capital expenditure projects (You’ll be overseeing circa £40m to £60m across potentially several work streams)
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 ECC forms of Contract
  • Experience of mentoring more junior members of staff
  • Excellent negotiation skills (with suppliers and partners)
  • Solid presentation and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication, numerical and computer literacy skills
  • Analytical and numerical mind and a forensic ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to priorities a high-volume workload and ensure deadlines are achieved
The following would be useful, but are not essential:

  • Experience in the telecoms or utilities sector
  • Experience of NRSWA and SRWR street-works requirements
  • Experience in Active network infrastructure
