Overview:
We are seeking a Quality Manager for our client who on a Joint Venture basis is delivering a range of water related schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works across a £300m AMP7 framework.

To be considered you will have relevant experience within the construction industry, ideally civil engineering within waste to energy or water environments in the UK.

You will be responsible for maintaining and following the company ISO9001 quality management system and having local arrangements for communicating, engaging, and monitoring the quality of the end product and service.  You will develop suitable audit and improvement plans to support the QMS, and evidence proactive quality management to parent companies and the client.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing guidance for the JV team in delivering solutions in line with specified quality requirements
  • Ensuring there is an annual program of co-ordinated audit and improvement activities in place that cover product quality, supplier engagements, and construction management
  • Ensuring there is an effective product quality system in place, including collation of data, deriving and communicating lessons learned, supporting implementation and monitoring on a risk based approach
  • Ensuring the quality systems enable the project to be delivered in the most effective way, in line with the aspirations and targets of the JV and client (both legislative and in the framework agreement) and in regard to the construction quality, cost, programme, risks, safety and sustainability
  • Managing the satisfactory resolution of findings and corrective actions from parent company or third-party audits
  • Develop and maintain practical JV arrangements for following parent company Quality Management System(s)
  • Ensuring all procedures for meeting the JV governance requirements for quality and audit are in place, fully understood, and implemented by the JV’s teams such as Quality Readiness Reviews
  • Carry out audits as required or directed by the Head of SHEQ or SLT
  • Ensuring arrangements are in place to prevent products and work being released until verified as compliant and to standard (incl. reviewing documentation provided by suppliers for compliance with the JVs quality system)
  • Providing monthly communications to the business on quality issues, topics, toolbox talks, lessons learned and similar
  • Providing proactive support, support materials, guidance, briefing and training required by individuals to carry out their work in relation to quality
  • Providing approvals for the quality documents and quality elements of documents
  • Maintain and develop good collaborative relationships with the client’s quality/audit teams
  • Providing monthly updates to Senior Leadership Team on progress with the annual audit programme, identifying key deficiencies/gaps, and progress of improvement plans to remedy any deficiencies or generally improve or develop
  • Leading and facilitating external and internal audits of quality/assurance on the project
  • Manage the Quality Advisor in line with parent company and JV HR processes
Requirements:

  • Experience of quality management within the construction industry (Waste to Energy or Water)
  • Educated to Diploma or degree level in a quality or quality related discipline
  • ISO9001 trained Auditor (Registered Lead Auditor preferred)
  • Experience managing quality in a project delivery environment
  • Membership of a relevant quality professional body
  • A recognised Internal Quality Auditor qualification (e.g. an IRCA recognised course)
  • Experience of writing formal quality management documents and undertaking audits
  • The ability to identify key issues, evaluate data, and draw informed conclusions
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiating skills
  • Confident facilitator and presenter
  • Ability to write both procedural documents and less formal training materials in a clear and consistent manner
  • Ability to define goals and plan to deliver them
  • High level computer literacy with proficiency in use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and similar
