As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will support the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of telecoms related projects across Suffolk. You will have a working knowledge of NEC3 ECC forms of contract and have gained solid experience in commercial management and the procurement of contractors. Your background will be in civil engineering and better still if you have relevant commercial experience within the utilities sectors. You will also have the ability to manage 3 Quantity Surveyors reporting to you and your direct report will be to a visiting Commercial Manager.
The Role:
- Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, implementing the businesses policies for risk management
- Provide commercial and contractual expertise to contracts which includes the production and submission of valuation certification, drafting and issuing correspondence, claims, budget monitoring and producing contract performance data
- Provide robust, timely and accurate cost and value data at both project and regional levels including their progress in relation to the programme schedule
- Manage the commercial resources of the assigned region to manage planned expenditure through the placement and control of contracts
- Value work executed by contractors and certifying interim and final payments
- Support the authorisation and submission of project variations
- Coach/develop and mentor multi-disciplinary peers through commercial and contractual process
- Assist in the monthly measurement of supplier KPI’s and reporting
- Provide commercial information from projects to enable estimation at programme level to occur
- A commercial HNC/HND/Degree level education, or equivalent
- The ability to negotiate with suppliers and partners
- Experience using spreadsheets to interpret and collate financial data
- Presentation and report writing skills
- Experience of NRSWA and SRWR street works requirements (desirable)
- An analytical and numerical mind and the ability to identify and resolve problems
- The ability to priorities a high-volume workload and ensures deadlines are achieved
