We have an exciting water project engineering opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing commercial team, working on key engineering projects in the Harefield, Reading, and High Wycombe areas.

The Role:
You’ll gain invaluable experience and exposure to Capital and Operational Expenditure budgets, understanding the balance between the two. This role provides insight into Total Expenditure (TOTEX) and the increasing impact it has in today’s utilities environment.
Your contribution will be critical to ensuring commercial success—allowing the business to invest in new technologies, drive sustainability, and build infrastructure that supports future generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate weekly revenue and cost reports
- Control submissions of daily completed jobs
- Produce and manage ‘Schedule of Rates’
- Reconcile subcontractor costs and prepare payment certificates
- Liaise with Operations and Planning to monitor job progress and scope changes
- Review scheme works to ensure delivery targets are met
- Price completed jobs for high-volume works
- Attend 'Work In Progress' days and develop client relationships
- Analyse weekly and monthly cost/revenue data
- Experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in utilities, civil or mechanical engineering—ideally within the water industry
- Skilled in managing high-volume, low-value works
- Knowledgeable in NEC contracts and subcontractor management
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and a natural problem-solver
- Excellent communicator and relationship-builder
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Strong attention to data integrity and financial analysis
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or HNC/HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with commercial management experience is highly desirable
