Description
As part of their ongoing expansion an opportunity for an Accountant has become available working for a specialist construction and rail business in London.
The Accountant will support the number of Heads of Department and a Commercial Manager to ensure the smooth and accurate reporting of projects, provide data and analysis to drive project performance and establish & implement appropriate processes, controls, and risk management. Support Financial Controller, Group Financial Director and Divisional Heads with all tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the finance department and accounting practices.
The role is based in Central London a hybrid working model is on offer with three days per week expected in the office.
The Role
• Reporting to the Group Financial Controller the Accountant's responsibilities will include preparation of Monthly Management Accounts and Statutory Reporting Requirements for a business unit
• Month-end Reporting: preparation of the monthly Management Reporting for Division to tight deadlines.
• Calculation and analysis of percentage to complete on projects, margin and cost calculations, variance analysis, and reviewing & reporting on project performance.
• This includes the review of cost value recognition documents to challenge and verify the sector reports
• Corporate Reporting: to assist with & produce all necessary Corporate Reports (US Parent Company) – weekly, monthly and ad-hoc.
• Preparation of information and documents required for Statutory Reporting, tax returns and UK/US audit purposes.
• All tasks associated with account preparation including accruals, prepayments, depreciation & other journals.
• Preparation, ownership and presentation of the sector forecast documents.
• Cashflow management and forecasting for division.
• Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• HMRC submissions as required for division
• Working closely with project/contract teams to understand the on-going projects, their status, understanding the challenges and risks within the projects.
• Analysis of project data to support continual improvement programs within the division.
• Presentation of material expected at divisional and corporate levels (occasional)
• Working with client base as and when required as part of project reviews and financial discussions.
Experience and Qualifications Required
• Suitable Accountants will be CIMA/ACCA professional qualification or Qualified. Candidates part way through studies will be considered if experience is relevant to the role.
• Experience working in the construction industry essential.
