Description

Due to an a major restructuring involving increasing their in-house capabilities a major water services provider in the South East are seeking to appoint a Senior Surveyor to complement their team in the Southern Home Counties. The role is currently carried out by external consultants and therefore offers the opportunity to be part of a new team at the early stages of an exiting transformational journey. Professional memberships will be paid by the employer, this is a hybrid working role.

The Role
Reporting to the Principle Surveyor the Senior Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring entry to, or acquisition of rights in, third party land are secured to meet the needs of individual projects to enable the building, maintaining and/or repairing the company assets.
To be responsible for the securing of entry on to third party land to meet project requirements, either through the implementation of statutory powers, in accordance with the ‘Code of Practice for the exercise of pipe laying powers on land with the Water UK ‘Land Entry Principles’ or by agreement, including the negotiating, agreeing and payment of compensation, and the securing of rights in or over land including the managing of solicitors in the completion of any legal agreements.
Day to day duties will include:
Liaising with project managers and Delivery/Service Partners to identify individual project needs
Preparation of land and compensation estimates, supporting the development of the project schedule and advising on associated risks relating to an individual project
Identification of landowners and occupiers and preparation of landownership schedules and landownership index maps
Owning the relationship with owners and occupiers affected by the works and liaising with them and keeping them informed and updated throughout the project
Service of statutory notices in relation to land entry, including the management of any requirements for seeking a Warrant of Entry
Negotiating and agreeing compensations
Providing project teams with regular updates on land entry progress, risks and compensation

Experience Required
Suitable applicants will be educated to degree level in relevant subject and have a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s statutory powers in relation to private land entry and compensation.
The Senior Surveyor will be able to demonstrate proven negotiating skills, with the ability to diffuse and resolve conflicts with stakeholders
Good IT skills skills are essential.
