Description

An exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager has become available with a leading civil engineering contractor that enjoys a large market presence across Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.
The business carries major civils projects in the clean water sector as well as marine projects along the South Coast, projects ranging in value between £5M-£30M. The Commercial Manager will lead the QS team and procurement function across the business and will work closely with Senior Operations Managers to lead and support all financial and commercial aspects of schemes.
This role could appeal to an experienced Commercial Manager seeking the opportunity to work for a company that is on a significant growth strategy, or an ambitious Managing Quantity Surveyor looking for the next step up the career ladder.
This is a hybrid working role with three days per week expected in the office in East Sussex.

The Role
Reporting to the board this is a senior strategic role leading established and loyal commercial and procurement teams.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing commercial aspects of all contracts from the bid stage through to final accounting and project handover
Developing, nurturing and maintaining excellent relationships with stakeholders
Supporting the commercial team in the identification and correct management of change events
Ensuring accurate financial and contractual performance forecasts are in place across all projects
Monitoring cash flow and ensuring budgets are achieved
Providing leadership across the commercial and procurement teams and carrying out recruitment as the business continues to grow.

Experience Required
Suitable candidates will be educated HNC or BSc Quantity Surveying and will be able to demonstrate a track record of commercial success working on civil engineering projects
Experience working on water or marine projects would be beneficial but is not essential
A thorough working knowledge of NEC and a detailed understanding of tendering and procurement are essential
