Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Consultancy | Reading (Hybrid Working)

An established and highly respected consultancy, experiencing 25% year-on-year growth, is seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its expanding team.

This is a genuine career-defining opportunity, offering a clear progression route to Director level, including the potential for equity/shareholding as the business continues its planned expansion.

The consultancy operates across the rail, water, and highways sectors, delivering complex infrastructure projects valued between £10m and £80m.

Projects are Reading-based, with flexible hybrid working available (2–3 days working from home), along with full support towards achieving Chartered status (RICS or equivalent).

The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key leadership role, responsible for both project delivery and team management.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors at various levels

Producing and presenting detailed cost reports to client senior management

Advising on and approving cost analysis for repair and maintenance works

Establishing client requirements and undertaking feasibility studies

Delivering effective risk management, value engineering, and cost control

Advising clients on procurement strategy and commercial best practice

Managing and overseeing the tendering process, including approval of tender and contract documentation

Ensuring accurate monthly cost and profit forecasts are prepared

Supporting subcontractor selection and commercial agreements

Advising and supporting the Claims Manager on contractual claims

Maintaining strong knowledge of NEC contracts and industry best practice

Experience Required

To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role, you will have:

A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management

A stable career history working for a consultancy, client-side organisation, or recognised main contractor

Proven experience delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects

Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)

Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills
