The Role

As Senior Buyer / Procurement Manager, you will lead procurement activities across a portfolio of water infrastructure projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, plant and subcontract services while delivering best value and supporting successful project delivery.

Working closely with operational, commercial and estimating teams, you'll become a trusted procurement partner from pre-construction through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project and business objectives.
Manage the procurement of materials, plant and subcontract services for major infrastructure projects.
Work alongside estimating teams during pre-construction to develop procurement strategies and support competitive tender submissions.
Attend project start-up meetings and provide procurement expertise throughout delivery.
Lead supplier and subcontractor tendering, negotiation and contract award activities.
Build, manage and develop strong supplier relationships to drive performance, quality and value.
Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, commercial reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assess supply chain capability, financial stability and associated risks.
Support category management initiatives across the wider business.
Track procurement spend against budgets and report on cost performance.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, client frameworks and internal governance.
Provide procurement advice to operational teams on materials, specifications and supply chain solutions.
About You

We're looking for an experienced procurement professional who has operated within a civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction environment.

You'll bring:

Proven experience as a Senior Buyer, Procurement Manager or similar.
Strong knowledge of procurement best practice, supplier management and strategic sourcing.
Experience procuring materials, subcontractors and services for infrastructure or engineering projects.
Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of contract law.
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
CIPS qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
