Description
This role is with the utility division and the wider group maintain a strong presence in civil engineering , rail, aviation and construction.
The role is being offered on a hybrid working basis with 2-3 days per week expected on site in Wales.
Expenses and lodge can be included should the successful candidate reside outside of commuting distance.
The Commercial Manager will:
• Lead, support and encourage the commercial staff with their duties (training, mentoring and appraisal);
• Develop an environment where Commercial and Project Management staff share ideas and best practice;
• Monitor and support commercial staff through agreeing and regularly reviewing personal objectives;
• Facilitate coaching/training to develop staff and ensure that Roles and Responsibilities for their commercial team members are understood and met.
The Role
• Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for:
• Providing leadership and support to junior members of the team and contractual advice and support to the operations delivery management
• Reviewing Sub-contractors and engaging with and expanding the supply chain
• Raising new subcontracts, monitoring and adherence to governance levels
• Working closely with the Operational Lead to ensure that data is recorded accurately and identify risks and commercial opportunities. carry out sub-contact evaluations and authorising payments
Experience Required
• BSc in Quantity Surveying
• Substantial commercial experience with experience of working in a Commercial Manager role
• A background of working within the water, utilities or civil engineering sector
• Working knowledge of NEC Suite of Contracts
• Strong relationship builder with proven successful negotiation skills
• Excellent manager of people, possessing the ability to motivate, develop and lead commercial teams
• Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge
