We're looking for an Engineering Design Manager for our client who is delivering a range of water related schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works across a £300m AMP7 framework. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, the Engineering Design Manager is a key member of the Design Leadership Team with key accountabilities being to lead timely design production and provide resource management at framework level.
What you will be doing:
- ·Play an active role within the design leadership team
- ·Design production and reporting of progress at a framework level
- ·Resource management at framework level
- ·Recruitment and on-boarding of design staff
- ·Design team competency assurance and coordination of training needs
- ·Competency assurance for specialist outsourced designers and supply chain designers
- ·Development and continual improvement of AMP7 design procedures and ownership of the Design Management Audit process
Essential:
- ·Water sector experience with an understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
- ·A positive, results focused, flexible can-do approach with the ability to influence and motivate others
- ·Significant line/team management experience in a Design and Build environment
- ·Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety
- ·Planning, resource management, change management and budget management
- ·Line management, performance development, recruitment and appraisal
- ·Developed influencing and negotiation skills
- ·IT skills including MS Office, advanced Excel, Teams, SharePoint, (ProjectWise - desirable although not essential)
- ·Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic working environment
- ·Educated to Degree level
- ·Chartered Membership of a professional institution
- ·Previous experience working in Joint Ventures
- ·Experience with BIM and digital delivery practices
- ·Experience of off-site manufacture practices
