Description

Due to an increase in work load a specialist Quantity Surveying Consultancy in Brighton are have an opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
The Project Quantity Surveyor will work with a specific client leading fit-out contractor that delver work for a leading international bank who's head office is in London where the bulk of their works take place. The Project Quantity Surveyor will act as a commercial lead for the fit-out contractor, managing and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high quality. Your role involves estimating costs, preparing tender documents, managing contracts, and providing financial advice to support effective decision-making.

The Role
Estimating:
Conduct cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, and overheads.
Analyse project requirements and specifications to determine accurate cost projections using previous project information.
Tender Preparation:

Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities, to facilitate the bidding process.
Evaluate contractor bids and provide recommendations based on cost and other relevant factors.
Budget Management:

Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organisational goals.
Monitor project expenditures and provide regular budget updates to project stakeholders.
Contract Administration:

Administer and manage contracts, including variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
Ensure that all contractual obligations related to cost and payment are fulfilled.
Able to prepare JCT subcontracts.
Value Engineering:

Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Recommend value engineering solutions to optimize project costs.
Financial Reporting:

Prepare financial reports and forecasts to inform project stakeholders of cost status and potential risks.
Provide advice on financial implications of project decisions.
Prepare monthly CVR's
Quantity Measurement:

Measure and quantify project materials and work, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
Maintain records of quantities for reporting and verification purposes.
Qualifications and Skills:


Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Professional membership or certification (e.g., RICS/CIOB) is advantageous but not necessary
Proven experience as a Construction Surveyor -
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement processes.
IT proficient, must be able to use
Excel
Conquest Estimating and
Onscreen Takeoff (OST)
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
Working Conditions:

Office-based
Site visits may be required to assess project progress and carry out valuations
