The Role
We are recruiting an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a high-profile £65M energy infrastructure project based in Newport, South Wales. Reporting directly to the Director, this is a career-defining opportunity to play a key role in the UK’s growing energy sector, with clear progression into senior leadership.
The project includes a broad range of civil and structural engineering works, including groundworks, drainage, pavements, buildings, steelwork, and reinforced concrete structures. You will have full responsibility for safe, compliant, and commercially successful delivery from construction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all on-site construction activities on a major energy infrastructure project
Take full ownership of programme, cost control, and commercial performance
Manage and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, NEC contracts, RAMS, lifting operations, and temporary works
Implement and maintain HSEQ standards, including Construction Phase Plans and Environmental Management Systems
Provide visible, hands-on leadership, promoting a strong safety-first culture
Deliver accurate progress reporting to clients, stakeholders, and senior management
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams
Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, and Engineers
Drive innovation, efficiency, and value engineering across the project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent proven experience)
CSCS Card, SMSTS, and full UK driving licence
Proven experience delivering large-scale civils, infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations, and temporary works
Demonstrable experience managing multi-million-pound construction projects
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage budgets, programmes, risk, and project teams effectively
Chartered status (or working towards) with ICE, CIOB, CIHT, or APM is desirable
Additional qualifications such as Temporary Works Supervisor, IOSH, ILM Level 3, or CDM training are advantageous
