Description
A leading multi-discaplined main contractor are seeking to appoint a buyer to complement their team in Hertfordshire.
The role has become available due to an increase in allocated projects on the framework, projects vary from £5M-£20M each.
The Role
Working as an integral part of the commercial team you will be responsible for sourcing subcontractors, carrying out tendering activity and the procurement of materials.
95 percent of the role will be sub-contract procurement as very few materials are purchased.
You will be expected to develop strong relationships, working collaboratively, influencing stakeholders including leaders and key decision-makers to drive behaviours and ensure appropriate involvement of procurement in all sourcing activities. You will also be responsible for regular data analysis, reporting and presenting internally on immediate and future priorities, risks, issues and potential solutions.
Experience Required
Suitable applicants must be Degree level education, or qualified by experience.
You must be able to demonstrate significant experience of procurement in the construction industry.
Sound working knowledge of the main forms of contract, NEC, JCT, CECA (ICE).
Knowledge of the forms of sub-contract for the building, civils and utilities sectors and experience of negotiating with suppliers and sub-contractors.
