Description

A specialist civil engineering contractor have an opportunity for an HSEQ Manager to join their team in Southampton. The company deliver works within the water and coastal defence sectors. Their current portfolio of projects include deep drainage, reinforced concrete structures, river defence & water treatment plant schemes.
The HSEQ Manager will support a number of projects to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Management systems and champion HSEQ initiatives in the region whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.

The Role

• Reporting to the company Director the HSEQ manager will be responsible for :
• Carrying out detailed site inspections by recognising hazards, seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining and improving the health, safety, environmental and quality standards
• Promote the value of occupational health
• Provide consistent and accurate HSEQ advice to site teams
• Carry out tool box talks
• Ensure that site supervisors are following protocol
• Form collaborative relationships with Client HSEQ Management
• Support and complete investigation reviews for HSE investigations
• Monitor HSEQ Advisor inspections and ensure findings are closed out in a timely
• manner
• Agree monthly inspection targets and monitor compliance

Experience Required


• NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
• CSCS Safety Professional card
• Extensive HSEQ experience within a civil engineering environment, experience in the water sector would be beneficial
• A sound knowledge of deep drainage and water related experience is desirable
• Sound knowledge of quality controls associated with company work activities
• Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations
• High standard of written English
• Good communication skills,
• People skills – ability to liaise with staff/operatives of all levels and communicate with other stakeholders
• Excellent use MS Office – Word, Excel and Power-point
•Strong presentation and report writing skills
